Septic Technician 
  • Cleaning and repairing septic tanks
  • Septic technicians clean and repair septic tanks, sewer lines, and drains. They may also patch tank walls and partitions, replace damaged drain tile, or repair underground piping breaks. 

     
  • Maintaining septic systems
  • Septic technicians perform routine maintenance on septic systems and associated components and lines. 
     
  • Inspecting and troubleshooting
  • Septic technicians inspect septic system, pump tanks as needed, give options, and expertly explain issues to customers.

     
Communicating
Septic technicians communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and customers. 

 
Driving
Septic technicians drive large pumper trucks to and from customers location. 

 
Using tools
Septic technicians use a variety of tools, both hand and power tools, to do their job. Equipment may include power rudders, high-velocity water jets, bucket machines, and plumbers snakes. 

 
Updating maps
Septic technicians update maps and manhole charts as modifications are made. 

 
Septic technicians typically need a high school diploma or equivalent and 1 to 12 months of on-the-job training
Compensation: $17.00 - $26.00 per hour
